Church Planting

St Werburgh’s is part of a growing network of resource churches within the Church of England—local churches intentionally equipped to serve, strengthen, and multiply ministry in their city and region. This includes a particular focus on church planting and revitalisation.

As a resource church, our vision extends beyond our own congregation. We are committed to supporting the wider church and seeing new communities of faith established across Manchester.

In the past year, a significant milestone in this journey has been sending a team to plant a new worshipping community at William Temple Church in Wythenshawe.

Looking ahead, being a resource church will continue to shape the way we think, serve, and give—not simply for our own growth, but so that many more people might encounter the love and hope of Jesus across Chorlton, Manchester, and beyond. Our prayer is to keep raising up leaders and teams to plant and revitalise churches of different shapes and sizes in a variety of communities.
